You would get to see more cute pictures of this hair style and other cute pool pictures but I have completely filled my hard drive with pictures. Have I mentioned I've only been using it since March? My little lappy is scheduled for surgery later this week. A hardrivectomy is in order. I already let it know about the pain scale, but it assured me, this laptop is no wimp.

I'd rather be in Ann Arbor...

Despite my recent incarceration at UofM Hospital, I still love Ann Arbor. Today I got to spend a really fun afternoon in that wonderful city. First, we went to Zingerman's. If you haven't been, it is an essential south eastern Michigan experience. When you first walk in it is a little bit overwhelming because there are tantilizing smells and yummy things to see in every nook and cranny of the deli. There's a huge wall of bread, a huge case of cheeses, different kinds of salads and other goodies. What we learned is that everything is sample-able. Which is heavenly. I wanted to sample all the gelatos---especially the dark chocolate, but I held back. We got there a little before 11:00 which is a perfect time because it wasn't busy at all and I've heard the line can get ridiculously long. I had a super yummy chicken sandwich and farmer's market salad...and a cookie. They were sooo worth it. So good. After that we stayed in Kerrytown and went to some fun shops. We went to this one really neat store called Found, where they featured things from artisans who use found or recycled materials...I loved it. There were a lot of cool things made from antiques. I had such a fun time. I love Ann Arbor.The Cheese

One of my favorite cousins is getting married in the fall and her bridal shower was last weekend. My Aunt Susie planned a really nice evening. It was great to spend time with my aunts and cousins. Lucy had a lot of fun too!

I just realized today that I could still post without pictures. Things have been going well. I've been staying in Union City this week during Spinal Surgery Recovery 2008. They really should make t-shirts for this. We had a nice weekend...pictures to follow. It seems there just isn't enough time in the summer to do everything you want to do and see everyone you want to see. Friday night was my cousin's bridal shower. It was very nice, she's going to be a beautiful bride. Saturday was a little family reunion at Kaniewski's where all the great-grandchildren on Tony's mom's side were gathered for Nana and Papa's Christmas card picture. It was pretty funny seeing them try to wrangle 13 of them. Sunday church as usual...Monday we had the beauty shop day with DeneeMichele. Aunt Sandae got highlights and a cut, so did Mom, Aunt Miki had her hair straighted and you saw my new do. Today we went to a little party for the ladies in Mom's neighborhood to welcome a new neighbor that moved in. It makes me wish I lived in a small town or at least in a neighborhood where people knew eachother. There were probably 15 ladies there and the host, Delphine Knapp made some really yummy treats. Then---we went to Mom's cousin Pam's house for a little party by the pool...again...really yummy treats. I think I might come home weighing a wee bit more than when I left. Hilda met me at the hospital. But she has a date with Jillian Michaels when we get home. Anyone ever hear of or try the GI diet? GI as in Glycemic Index not the army kind. Thanks for hanging with us through this crazy month.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm

Good Morning! It's a little early here, but I found out that one of the side effects of the steroids is insomnia. I woke up about 2:30 and my brain just will not shut off! So, I've been eating, watching TV, catching up on my blog reading and thought....okay, time to update. I have so many cute pictures of Lucy to put up.

8 months old!

My little Lu is 8 months old. She is seriously learning so much, so quickly. I think it's Grammi's influence; must be the educational aura. In the last month she has learned to crawl-very competently, pull up to her knees, which is adorable to see when she's in her crib and you can just see her nose and eyes poking up. She can pull up to her feet if she's really steady on something like her toy box but it doesn't happen often. She claps her hands and indiscriminately says, "mama." It's very sweet. She says it a lot when she's tired and wants to be held. I asked Grammi the other day, "do you really think she knows what she's saying?" and Lucy looked up at me with this look on her face like, "um...yeah...who else would I be talking to?" It has been so difficult not being able to pick her up when she cries or be alone with her for very long in case she needs to be moved but things are getting better and better every day. She is really the sweetest and best baby around. She has a smile for everyone...librarians, elderly ladies at the grocery store, even guys covered in tatoos at the hospital. She's so mild-tempered...she gets that from her Dad. She eats anything and everything and is usually happy just to be around. She adores her cousins and always gives them lots of smiles and loud giggles. I love seeing them interact. Oh, she also kind of makes this funny batting her eye lash face. We aren't sure if she's doing it to be cute or what but it's adorable.

An extra special visit with the girls! It was so nice to see Wendy and Missi. We got to hang out, talk, eat good food...just like the ol' days. I miss 'em so much.
