I found these headbands the other day and decided they would be a good way to cure the Monday blahs.

I'm glad I hoard old t-shirts.

I didn't like the flower on the first one (white), I thought it was too big, so I did the second one a little differently. I like the flower itself, just not for this headband--maybe a wreath.

Then I made the baby hat, I intended to make a blue one too but didn't realize how late it was getting.  Since I, and 66% of the people who voted, think this baby is a boy, maybe after Friday I'll find the time to make it.

Baby is a sweet potato or piece of lemon meringue pie this week. :)

Sweet and Sour Chicken

I tried Mel's Sweet and Sour Chicken recipe last night.  I was honestly a little skeptical at first, ketchup, really?  It was wonderful...seriously rivaled take out and satisfied that craving.  I served it with rice obviously, but also some stir-fried carrots and pea pods.  Yum.  

I made peanut butter and jelly cookies today.  Mmmm.

Have I mentioned that I'm hungry pretty much all the time?

Btw, pregnancy does really strange things to my hair.  I have a rooster comb growing out of the side of my head.  It's attractive, really.  I think one of these headbands could help me through this rooster phase.  

I want to make one in alternating colors.

Not, for me...I mean-we don't know yet-only let's see...11 days until we find out.

This one is for a new friend in the ward, I made her a blanket for her new little one.

I am thinking ours will be a boy but we'll see.

Ree Drummond, or The Pioneer Woman, is on her book tour, promoting Black Heels to Tractor Wheels and she stops in Columbus today.  It's just not possible for me to make it there so, I shall pay a little homage on the old blog.  When it comes to food, if PW speaks, you listen...and take notes.  I can't remember when I came across her site, maybe it had to do with homeschooling, but whenever I try a recipe of hers it becomes a family favorite staple in our house.  Her lasagna is the best ever, cookie frosting, crash hot potatoes, chicken spaghetti, chicken and noodles, pumpkin cream pie, the list goes on and on and on.  So-PW-I hope you enjoy Ohio as much as I do...and I'll keep trying those recipes and taking your photography tips.

P.S.  I was going through my archives to see how many times I reference the Pioneer Woman, and it's a lot...but I realized I blog about food a lot.  I love food.

Some stuff I'm thinking about

Prayer works.  

I feel a zillion times better than the other day.  I've started to see my trials as blessings and to be thankful for them.  That's a big step for me, and at least in this case, it wasn't too hard...I'm just happy to be happy.  I've been loving these warmer temps even though I know it's just a tease.  The warmer weather makes me think of something I love...gardening.  

It's almost gardening season!

Last summer, we stopped at this farm stand on the way home from a family reunion.  I bought what turned out to be the best watermelon I've ever had.  I preserved the seeds and stored them away.  I was telling someone about it and they mentioned that it could be a hybrid, that they wouldn't germinate.  I hadn't even considered that possibility.  So, I got out one of the seeds and packaged it in a little damp paper towel and sandwich bag.  That was 6 days ago.  I checked it today and lo and behold!!!  IT SPROUTED!  I'm so excited.  I had a little impromptu science lesson with Lucy and her friend.

Another thing-I can feel the baby moving now.  Lucy comes up to my belly often to listen and give kisses.  It's pretty much the sweetest thing I've ever witnessed.

So thankful that the Lord is in control.

I feel like yesterday was a test.

Instead of yelling "Mayday!" as the plane was going down, I feel like I just let it crash and then watched it burn.

It was a day that tried my patience in a lot of ways and left me with a few wretched, "why me's."  

None of my problems are significant in the grand scheme of things...really.  I was just tired and grouchy and instead of being patient and long suffering with the tiny problems of the day, I magnified them and whined and complained.

This morning I resolved to be better.  I prayed to have peace in my heart and in my words.

 While working on my lesson for Young Women's this week, I came across this scripture which spoke to my soul and has bouyed me up.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; 

and lean not unto thine  own understanding. 

In all they ways acknowledge him, 

and he shall direct they paths.

Storms make me want to bake.

I'm waiting for the snow to start.  I saw this recipe today at Mel's Kitchen Cafe, and thought it would be a great one to try out.  I was not disappointed, at all.  If you love those pretzel booths at the mall, which I do, these are a must.  They are so easy to make.  As I was making them, I was kicking myself for using all the cream cheese in last night's Enchiladas.  I looked up a recipe for Honey Mustard and found a really good one.  It tastes just like a certain restaurant's.  One where you might find the ribs of a baby back.  That sounds sick.  Anyway, these are divine.  Make 'em.
